Catherine Parrish
In 1999, after over twenty years of service as a chief executive and leader in the non-profit and humanitarian sector, Catherine returned to the San Francisco Bay Area with her family. In response to requests from friends and acquaintances in the world of business, Catherine began doing consulting projects in executive and leadership development, productivity enhancement, communication and teambuilding.
As the director of international, mission-driven organizations, involving individuals from literally dozens of different cultures and backgrounds, Catherine and her colleagues needed to create communication and leadership trainings and materials, along with underlying philosophic principles, that would assist the participants to develop effective and sustainable teams and partnerships.
These philosophical, transformational and practical trainings were the foundation for bringing together donors, executives, managers, and Board and staff members in India, Australia, Africa, Mexico, Europe and North America.
In order to bring this global 'magic' to clients in all sectors, Catherine joined the faculty of the Institute for Women's Leadership. Catherine's firsthand experience throughout the globe convinced her that the empowerment of women is the key to the transformation of the condition of life for one and all. Herein lies her passion.
Her work with individuals and teams includes private coaching and leadership development. She helps leaders and teams to build trust and challenge their perceived limitations. She helps them to listen and communicate-for-action, and maximizes their effectiveness at producing results in partnership with others.
Catherine holds degrees in history, psychology and education from the University of California, Berkeley. She played tennis on Cal's Women's Team and then on the women's professional tennis circuit before returning to graduate school. She serves on the boards of The Soul of Money Institute, Conversation Peace, and The Turning Tide Coalition.
She lives in the San Francisco Bay Area with her husband, Bill, and their daughter is a university student.
