Denise Benson, MFT, is an executive coach, seasoned psychotherapist and somatic coach in private practice in Los Altos and San Francisco, California. She works with adults, executive women and adolescents in areas ranging from leadership development to healing trauma. She also supervises intern therapists and is an adjunct professor at the California Institute of Integral Studies. Certified by Strozzi Institute as a Master Somatic Coach, Denise facilitates somatics-based groups.
Prior to becoming a therapist and executive coach, Denise developed and taught an innovative curriculum on emotional intelligence as a junior high school teacher. Her essay entitled, “Coming Home to the Body: A Journey for Adolescents,” is a part of an anthology edited by Richard Strozzi Heckler entitled Being Human at Work: Bringing Somatic Intelligence into Your Professional Life.
She is on the coaching faculty with the Institute for Women’s Leadership, co-leading the Executives Leading Sustainable Change and providing one-on-one coaching to senior executives across a variety of industries. In addition, Denise provides in depth somatic coaching for the participants of the ELSC, producing remarkable results in leadership effectiveness for women who have taken on bold promises.
