“THRIVE illuminated both a practical and a philosophical shift that I can incorporate in my life in order to improve self-care. There was always a combination of the large picture, the big WHY and the details of how to make this big WHY a daily practice and reality. Inspiring and practical. Big enough to pull me forward, not too big to be overpowering.”
— 2014 conference participant
IN MARCH 2014 we held our first THRIVE event, a program dedicated to helping overworked and over-stressed executives achieve breakthroughs in SELF-CARE by bringing grace, ease and joy back to their everyday lives. Together we discussed insights and practical, sustainable strategies to help participants align their priorities with their needs, and achieve their goals with LESS STRESS, LESS ANGST, and MORE JOY!
To wind up the day-and-a-half event, we heard Arianna Huffington discuss her new book, Thrive: The Third Metric to Redefining Success and Creating a Life of Well-Being, Wisdom and Wonder. We also celebrated the launch of the San Francisco Bay Area edition of The Women’s Book, an enterprise founded by Women Leading Change graduate TaKeysha Sheppard Cheney. Here are some candid shots from the day.
A special part of the event was the announcement of our first annual “Making A Difference Awards.” These were given to:
- Pioneer Award – Riane Eisler, author of The Chalice and the Blade
- Guys Who Get It Award – Mike Kaufmann, CEO, Cardinal Health Pharma Segment
- Community Empowerment Award – Brenda Wright, V.P., Wells Fargo Bank
- Leadership Across Boundaries Award – Cecilia Zamora, Executive Director, Latino Council
One of our community was kind enough to put together a “Storify” post on the conference. Click here to check it out!
