4) A Note from Rayona
“We must not, in trying to think about how we can make a big difference, ignore the small daily differences we can make which, over time, add up to big differences that we often cannot foresee.”
–Marian Wright Edelman
Well February has been a fantastic month in which to witness how our work together is making a difference. As you know we had a WLC here in Santa Clara and another 25 fabulous women leaders completed the program with breakthrough projects aimed at making the world and their organizations a better place to work and play.
The 3rd Anuual Linkage Women in Leadership Summit, which was originally the breakthrough project of Susan Brady, had 850 attendees and keynoters including Maya Angelou, Elizabeth Dole and Dr. Ella Bell speaking about the need to bridge the differences between White women and Women of Color….truly an important conversation to all of us!
We also conducted the post conference “Keep the Momentum Going” event and met several new potential Consortium members. We intend to have the Consortium filled with 10 member companies by 3/31…..please think about having your organization join this exciting team of movers and shakers! http://www.womensleadership.com/consortium.html
The 1st Annual Agilent Women’s Conference attended by 1500 women from all over the world was an outstanding success! We were honored to partner with alums on the steering committee and the Agilent Global Diversity & Inclusion team to design a 2 day conversation aimed at impacting each and every attendees life and turbocharging Agilent as 21st century model of a thriving business directly tied to being an inclusive organization.
WLC alum and diversity champion Leslie Camino-Markowitz received the Agilent Global Leadership Award and proudly invited her sisters from the Agilent Women of Color WLC to join her up on stage in receiving the award…..generosity of spirit personified!!
Recent alum, Margot Silk Forrest and I are partnering to write a book on IWL’s approach to women’s leadership. We are submitting the proposal to several top notch business book publishers and have at least 2 who say they are VERY interested…..send us your white light that we close the deal within the next 30 days. We will undoubtedly be asking you to submit your success stories of how you have applied the learnings from IWL programs to your work and personal life so please don’t hesitate to let us know if you are interested in submitting something or being interviewed.
In just a few short days I will be leaving for Australia for our semi-annual tour with the Teleran Group. In addition to the usual speaking engagements and WLC programs I will once again be facilitating the New South Wales Dept.. of Women Implementation project for having 50% women appointed to all government boards and commissions. This is a tremendous undertaking by 2 WLC alum, Robyn Henderson and Sue Gorst. Transforming Australia for women will definitely impact the world at large.
Please take a moment to drop us a line and say how you are doing these days…… we never get tired of hearing from you and knowing that you read the newsletter does make a difference to us. As always we are just a phone call or email away if we can support you in anything. Take care and take care of your health
